Afghan Police Free Two Kidnapped Children

(MENAFN) Police forces stormed the hideouts of two abductors and liberated two children from their custody in northern Afghanistan’s Sari Pul province on Monday, according to Provincial Police Spokesman Naqibullah Alamyar.

Following a tip-off, security personnel carried out operations in a remote district during the early hours of Monday, arresting the two suspects and recovering the kidnapped children, the spokesman explained.

Without disclosing further specifics, Alamyar mentioned that both alleged kidnappers will be transferred to the judiciary once the initial investigation is finalized.

Although overall crime has significantly declined and stability has returned in post-war Afghanistan, criminal groups still attempt to seize individuals from affluent families for ransom in the economically struggling nation.
